Class of 2019

CEPI 2019 participants convened for a two-week exchange around the theme of the digital economy, with a week in Washington, DC and Boston, Massachusetts and a week in Berlin, Germany and Brussels, Belgium.

In Washington, CEPI participants met with diverse, high-level stakeholders in the federal government, Congress, industry, and civil society to discuss politics and policymaking related to the digital economy. In Boston, participants met with industry professionals and academic institutions to learn about market issues related to the digital economy and the regulatory and legal challenges they face.

A similar program in Europe saw CEPI participants meet with officials from the European Commission and Parliament, the German federal government and Bundestag, and a wide range of industry and civil society stakeholders.

European Parliament

Joeri Hamvas is Administrator for the Committee of Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs in the European Parliament.

Atanaska Koleva is an administrator at the Internal Market Committee Secretariat of the European Parliament

Selma Toporan works as political advisor to the German EPP delegation in the European Parliament (29 Members of the European Parliament).

Michaël Vanfleteren is an administrator in the Secretariat of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affair.

Mihai Ganea is Senior Policy Advisor in the Parliamentary Office of MdB Detlef Müller (Social Democrat Party).

Stefan Goehlert is a Senior Policy Adviser to MGP Katrin Göring-Eckardt, Chairwoman of the Alliance 90/Greens Parliamentary Group.

Severin Kodalle is chief of staff of MP Christian Duerr, deputy chairman of the parliamentarian group of the Free Democratic Party.

Christoph Schmid is Chief of Staff to the Member of the German Bundestag Mr. Björn Simon, who represents the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group in the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure and the Committee on Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

Jeremy M. Goldberg is the Deputy Secretary for Technology and Innovation for the State of New York.

Malcolm Kenyatta was elected to serve as State Representative for Pennsylvania’s 181st Legislative District, Philadelphia County, on November 6, 2018.

Brittany Pettersen is a member of the Colorado State Senate, representing District 22 in Jefferson County.

Private Sector

Kellyn Blossom is the Head of Public Policy at Thumbtack, a marketplace platform to connect customers to local service professionals.

Laura Gardner is Privacy Counsel at WarnerMedia (formerly Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.), a leading media and entertainment company that distributes premium and popular content to global audiences.

Melissa Guennewig supervises EU regulatory files for Volkswagen AG and its brands (connectivity, automated driving, smart mobility, etc.). She also coordinates lobbying and political outreach activities of the Volkswagen Group in Brussels related to digitalization and smart mobility regulation.

Jeff Le serves as U.S. State and Local Public Policy Lead for VMware, an internet and software company, where he oversees tech policy with mayors, state legislatures, and governors across 50 states and Canada.

Maximilian von Sethe advises banks and fintech companies in Europe on digitally transforming their businesses, expanding internationally and developing a customer-centric communication strategy.
