Class of 2012

CEPI 2012 convened around the topics of the Eurozone crisis and agriculture policy.

In Brussels, fellows met with MEPs Dr. Christian Ehler, Paolo de Castro, and Matthias Groote. Fellows also met with Elizabeth Willocks, Head of Unit for DG Agriculture, and William Kennard, who then served as U.S. Ambassador to the EU. The fellows then held a series of meetings in Bruges, where they heard lectures on transatlantic policy and engaged in a historic tour of the city.

In Washington, D.C., the fellows met with government officials from the State Department, as well as private sector experts in risk management and commodity operations. Fellows also held a session with Sharon Bomer Lauritsen, who was then serving as Assistant USTR for Agricultural Affairs. Fellows also toured Congress, where they held meetings with relevant offices and committees, including the House Committee on Ways and Means. The fellows also toured the Pentagon and engaged in America’s favorite pastime--attending a baseball game.
