On March 4, 2018, Italians went to the polls to elect their next government. In the midst of economic, social and demographic upheaval, parties across the political spectrum aimed to capture the mood of a disgruntled electorate. With the populist Five Star Movement and anti-immigrant League on the rise alongside the faltering of traditional powerhouses Forza Italia and the Democratic Party, this election turned Italian politics upside down.
